If a (supposedly) Pakistani group makes communities like "I HATE INDIA" / "INDIA MURDABAD" or the more Shakespearian types of " @#$% INDIA " the immediate reaction of we Indians is a sheer outburst of patriotism. With greater than equal to the amount of display of filth in the abuse we hurl back, job is done! we have shown who's the boss here!
The other day i came across this picture. To me, it truly conveyed a lot in a few words of satire. But unlike me, some of my very patriotic friends could not digest this insult! I became ungrateful,snob, traitor and deserved nothing less than a court martial ;)
The thing is we truly are best in thinking we are the best.India will be a superpower in 10 years!The IT Giant! Birthplace of spiritualism! nirvana! moksha! Unity in diversity! The country that produces one of the largest number of scientists! engineers!doctors! etc etc! or for that matter, has the Largest number of movie releases in the world!this is on the greener side of the grass :) pardon me if i talk about the naxals tearing apart the already bleeding borders and slaughtering civilians and army men with equal brutality and our largest democracy keeping mum for the best of its interests.Peace talks with likes of people who barge in to the extent of parliament house and laugh in our face not once, but repeatedly every year with a major act of terrorism.
Apart from this if i pan on to our individual lives, we dont hesitate a trifle to pay 200 bucks and get away with our vehicles sans authentic identification proofs or after violating traffic rules.
Sadly, the diversity isn't so united anymore.Theres an inherent mutual denial of people in the south to that of north,for instance and vice versa,and theres also a repulsion to accept Hindi as the national language.Youngsters find it "uncool" to talk in Hindi. Its so not happening!The sight of poor little kids doing dangerous acts to help make ends meet while some school kids "hangout" in Barista/CCD or some bistro in the background is too comon to stir emotions nowadays.
These are but only a few fleeting glimpses of the huge DIVIDE that exists and continues to grow within ourselves that can take us in only one direction which is pretty obvious.
I once read somewhere, "Be the change u wish to see". Small and significant self changes only can bring about the image we THINK that exists.Afterall Ignoring reality doesn't change it.
